About Me

Kristyna is a Czech/Canadian multidisciplinary artist and cultural facilitator with a rich background in film, documentary media, and interactive arts. After spending 12 years in Prague, she recently relocated to Kitchener, where she continues to explore the intersection of art, technology, and human experience, blending visual storytelling with innovative media formats.

With over 15 years of experience in the film and arts industries, both in Europe and Canada, Kristyna has worn many hats—director, assistant director, editor, cinematographer, and production manager. She has created promotional videos and theatre trailers for Prague-based clients, worked in the assistant directors department on major international film productions, and directed two documentary films.

Kristyna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social/Cultural Anthropology from the University of Toronto and a Master of Fine Arts in Documentary Media from Toronto Metropolitan University, where she honed her passion for documentary storytelling. She has worked for institutions such as the National Film Board of Canada and the Institute of Documentary Film in Prague, as well as a curator and project manager for the VOD streaming service DA Films.

Since 2013, Kristyna has been a key member of the Prague-based audiovisual collective FotonX, known for its architectural video mapping, live audiovisual performances, and interactive installations. After moving to Canada, she co-founded the artist collective ZEM, debuting the interactive LED installation Tree Love at Toronto’s Lumiere Festival in 2024. In 2024, Kristyna was awarded the Waterloo Region Microgrant for her project exploring Motherhood, the Mental Load, and Creativity. Her work invites audiences to engage deeply with themes of identity, memory, and the interdependence between humans and nature, blending creative expression with a strong social conscience.
